Local residents call for more police action at ward panel

Dr Allen Zimbler, ward panel chairman, pictured above with me at Hyde Park Estate Association Christmas party later in the evening, gave local reaction to the latest crime stats at the ward panel earlier on 4th December.

Burglary and drug offences are down on a year ago, but criminal damage, robbery and theft are up. Distraction offences at ATMs including the Barclays on Burwood Place are a particular problem.

PCs Lorna Sutton and Claire Napper have done a great job with Section 35 orders against vice, and with use of Territorial Support Group resources. We are sorry that PC Lorna is moving on but will engage promptly with her successor. The Joe Strummer Subway, scene of some notable crimes and anti-social behaviour, has now been closed. Police have been working with the Business Improvement Districts, council staff and the BID street teams -but warn that residents need to be vigilant particular at ATMS.
